Ultradent Tripod, Brand New Type of Dental Implant, Very Exciting!

February 19, 2019 By Todays Dentist Leave a Comment

New Dental implantBiodent Ultratooth is This New Dental Implant.

Biodent Ultratooth Implant Allows Crowns to be Cemented at the Same Appointment.

It is quite rare for Today’s Dentist to mention a product by its actual name, but since the Biodent Ultratooth is not only the first, but also the only implant approved by the Food and Drug Administration allowing dentists to remove a tooth, and then replace that same tooth with the Biodent Implant, and then cement a permanent porcelain crown over it. In other words, the Biodent Ultratooth Implant can be loaded without several months of healing and osseointegration period, meaning the implant becomes integrated with the bone.

So What is So Special about the Biodent Ultratooth?

Into the extraction site where the tooth was removed,  and due to its very unique “Eiffel Tower” design, it immediately has the strength to load the implant. The implant is self-tapping and easily screws into the bone. This saves time, dental visits, and money. Today’s Dentist is very exited about this implant. As you know, the implant is made of an inert metal, but this implant is different. Once it is in place. a tiny wrench type instrument attached to an internal screw in the implant is turned slowly. Attached to the screw is a nut on the end. As the screw is turned inside the implant, it brings with it a “nut”  which separates and expands the root area of the implant tightly into the bone. Surprisingly there is little or no discomfort with this procedure. It is a very simple system with all the beneficial factors.

This type of dental implant has about 35% more contact (surface area) when the patient’s bone grows and attaches to the outside wall of the implant plus the three “legs” inside and outside of the implant. This leads to a stronger, long-lasting, and more successful implant. By compacting the bone near the deepest part of the implant, more density is seen with the bone plus there is an increase in the quality of bone. This process of osseointegration, increased surface area, and increased bone density also leads to longevity and success. A “same day” crown can then be placed immediately saving the patient lots of time.

Very Pleasing Results! Strength and Aesthetics are Paramount!

new dental implantBecause of all the above, there is no movement of the implant during the healing phase. Therefore, there is no loss of bone near where the implant exits from the bone and gums in the mouth. Aesthetics is just as important as function, and the Biodent Ultratooth yields both. Without the loss of the bone where the implant exits from the gums, the margin of the porcelain crown yields a beautiful and aesthetic margin. The osseointegration created by the mechanical locking systems and lack of movement of the implant allows a predictable end result without the several-month healing period associated with non-expandable implants.  This aids not only the dentist, but the patient, in achieving a very successful and long-lasting end result. All this truly makes everyone happy!

For your understanding, an extension or post is screwed into the implant which may then be easily adapted to immediately receive the porcelain crown.

Why Ultratooth? (quoted from Ultratooth literature)

  • There are many factors that make Ultratooth a smart choice for doctors and patients.
  • Ultratooth is the ONLY full functional immediate tooth replacement system cleared by the FDA.
  • It preserves the original emergence profile of the teeth, which is essential in the aesthetic zone.
  • Due to the Eiffel Tower design of the ULTRATOOTH, the coronal bone loss typically seen in screw or cylindrical type implants, does not occur. Thus, being able to maintain the original emergence profile over time. (The emergence profile is how aesthetic the appearance of the crown. Does it truly look like it is coming out of the gums? Today’s Dentist)
  • Bone density and quality improves due to the compacting of the surrounding bone when expansion occurs.
  • The surface area of the ULTRATOOTH os 30% more than a typical size screw implant.

Effectiveness of Ultratooth Implant (Ultratooth literature)

The percentages below are based on the study of “Free standing & Multi-Unit immediate loading of expandable implant: An up-to-date month prospective survival study” published in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry.

Survival Rate in immediate loading of extraction in the maxilla……100%

Overall survival rate in the maxilla……………………………………………..96%

Overall Survival Rate in the mandible…………………………………………94.8%

Survival Rate showed by healed sides………………………………………….93.9%

Happy Doctor and Happy Patient!
