A benign bony knot or bony growth. Often found on the inside of the lower jaw and the midline of the palate. The lower types are called torus mandibularis and the upper types are called torus palatinus. They also many be found as bony knots on the outside of the upper arch as well as the lower arch. This over growth is usually the result of excess pressure on the teeth. They are benign and need not be removed unless dentures are necessary.
