A precision attachment partial denture replaces some of the missing teeth in an arch, but not all. (That would be a full denture.) The retention of a conventional partial denture is by clasps around the teeth, whereas the retention for a precision attachment partial is by special precision attachments within the crowns of abutment teeth. There are no clasps and the partial is more snug and functions considerably better. There is an additional cost.
